Creative Cost Containment Strategies in Health Care

Our speaker for this breakfast meeting is GREGG R. LAIBEN, M.D., Vice President, Employer Health Solutions for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City (Blue KC).  He will discuss a variety of industry initiatives that are commonly used to help contain rising health care costs for both medical and pharmacy spend.

Working closely with brokers and employers, Dr. Laiben identifies medical and pharmacy insights and opportunities, clinical strategies and wellness solutions to improve the health of Blue KC members. He is a member of the Blue KC leadership team and has clinical oversight over the A Healthier You™ program.

Dr. Laiben maintained an active clinical practice in internal medicine in the Kansas City area for over 12 years. Prior to his position at Blue KC, he was the Medical Director for Primaris, the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for the State of Missouri.
An active and respected leader in the healthcare industry, Dr. Laiben has served as Medical Director for Missouri’s Medicaid Agency and chaired the 2003 Missouri Governor’s Commission on Patient Safety.

He is a member of the Kansas City Medical Society, Missouri State Medical Association, American Medical Association and Kansas City Southwest Clinical Society.
Dr. Laiben received his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Missouri Kansas City and his Doctorate Degree from the University of Missouri, Kansas City School of Medicine.
